Primary Application
This device may be used with most Remote Control VCRs to automatically Record
'Events', the VCR-CONT will automatically and wirelessly transmit the VCR
Power-On, Record, Stop and Power-Off commands.
VCR-CONT is triggered by a 'normally closed' set of Alarm Contacts, when the
contacts open the Power-On & Record commands are transmitted, when the
Alarm Contacts close the Stop & Power-Off commands are transmitted either
immediately or after a 5 minute delay period.
Most PIR / Microwave / Ultrasonic and other Movement Detection sensors are
suitable, Light Beam Sensors and Mat switches may be used across entrances and
doorways, a simple magnetic 'Reed' or 'Micro' switch is all that is required to
detect opening of doors, etc.
Installation is simple, only two wires are needed from the contacts to VCR-CONT,
if VCR-CONT and Sensor are powered from the same power supply only one wire is
required.
Multiple alarm and camera inputs can be managed by using a Quad
or Multiplexer with Alarm I/O, the
programmable Alarm Output Period may be used to control recording, a Quad with Full-Screen-Call
On-Alarm function could be utilised to quadruple recorded data compared to an
ordinary Quad Screen recording.
Other
Applications
This device may also be used with our Remote Control VIDEO-VGA
(click here for info) to automatically
display images from a Surveillance Video Camera on a Computer Monitor that is
being used for normal computing purposes.
Any of the methods above could be used to trigger VCR-CONT which is programmed
with the VIDEO-VGA VIDEO and PC SELECT
Commands. When triggered the VIDEO SELECT command is transmitted and images from
the Video Camera are instantly displayed on the PC Monitor, when the Alarm
Contacts close the PC SELECT command is transmitted and the PC Monitor switches
back to the Computer.
A single VCR-CONT could be used with multiple PCs and VIDEO-VGA
units to increase the number of observers.
This arrangement would provide highly reliable monitoring in situations where
people are using computers continuously and important areas need to be kept
under surveillance. The possibilities are numerous and include monitoring of
rooms containing money, valuables, drugs, etc,. persons entering / leaving a
building or sensitive areas, removal of a valuable item on display, arrival /
departure of vehicles, etc, etc,. Cash Registers could be more efficiently
monitored (with less boredom) by using alarm contacts on the drawer.
At home, a similar arrangement
could provide automatic Display on TV of images from a Surveillance Camera while
viewing TV programs, Tapes, CDs, etc. VCR-CONT could be programmed with the
Television AV Video or Camera Channel (when using UHF-MOD
RF Modulator) Select Command, images from the Camera would be instantly
displayed in response to an Alarm Signal from a common PIR Motion Detection
Lighting System, Light Beam Sensor, Mat Switch, Pool Gate Switch, etc etc.
Multiple Cameras could be managed with a Quad
with Alarm I/O and Full-Screen-Call
On-Alarm facility. Alternatively multiple Cameras could be managed by using
VCR-CONT with each Camera, each VCR-CONT could be programmed with a different AV
Video or Camera Channel Select Command.
Compatible with most common
domestic VCRs, the original VCR Remote Control is used to 'Teach' VCR-CONT the
VCR Remote command codes.
VCR-CONT transmits Power-On &
Record commands when the normally-closed Trigger Input contacts are opened,
depending on the 'User selectable Mode' the Controller will transmit VCR Stop
& Power-Off commands when the Trigger Input contacts close again or after a
5 minute delay.
