images (50 fields per second x 3 600 seconds x 3 hours).
Higher-Resolution,
Lower-Noise, Deterioration-Free and more consistent than possible with a Quad
and VHS VCR,
CCTV
to view sample images.
Compatible with CCIR/PAL

JPEG files may be easily copied and archived to Floppy Disc, CD ROM, DVD,
removable Tape or HDD, etc.
AVI Video Clips, BMP and
JPEG files may be easily and quickly distributed via e-mail or LAN for viewing
by Police, Security Personnel, etc.
AVI files can be viewed
Full-Screen using standard Windows MS Media Player, BMP and JPEG files can be
viewed with MS Paint, Quick View, etc, no special software required.
Sequential capture and
analysis (in Motion Detection mode) of images from each input at 640 x 480, 640
x 240 or 320 x 240 resolution.
* LOWER-NOISE
* HIGHER-RESOLUTION see comparison below
* DETERIORATION-FREE
* CONSISTENT IMAGE QUALITY
Compared to a
conventional 4 Channel Quad / VCR recording systems that is susceptible to
fluctuating results depending on condition of Tape, VCR Heads and Transport
mechanism.
PC-DVR: 640 (H) x
480 (V) per camera = 307 200 pixels.
Quad & VHS Time-Lapse
VCR: Field Recording ~ 160 x ~ 144 per camera = 23 040 pixels, 92.5%
less data. (VHS VCR Time-Lapse (field) resolution ~ 320 horizontal lines x
288 scan lines)

STORAGE & CAPTURE INFORMATION:
Hard Disk space/size
requirements are impossible to accurately specify due to the numerous variables
involved, these include: Image Compressor MPEG-4, Image Quality/Compression,
Fast (larger file) or Slow (smaller file) compression, Capture Rate images-per-second
(ips), Camera Signal:Noise Ratio, PC Speed/Performance, other tasks running on
PC, Image Content:- A solitary person moving about (only a portion of
image changing) - VERSUS - Numerous persons and/or vehicles moving about (large
portions of image changing).
We provide following
information as a guide only, it was compiled during our evaluations using our
Test Platform that consists of: XP Professional OS, Intel D850GB Motherboard,
Pentium 1.7 GHz CPU, 512 MB RAM, Leadtek WinFast A180 DDR T AGP Card & 10 GB ATA
66 HDD.
CONDITIONS: Compressor =
MPEG4, Compression = Minimum (Best Image Quality), Fast compression, Recording
Mode = Continuous, Signal Source = Off-Air PAL Television Signals.
(1) Channels = 4,
Resolution = 640 x 480, Capture Rate = 4 ~ 5 ips, HDD storage 100 MB = ~ 60
minutes, per channel.
(2) Channels = 8,
Resolution = 640 x 480, Capture Rate = 3 ~ 4 ips, HDD storage 100 MB = ~ 80
minutes, per channel.
Above HDD storage figures
are larger than likely to be encountered in a typical CCTV Surveillance
situation, the Off-Air TV Source consisted of images that were constantly
changing often in their entirety, rather than just sections of some images on
some channels as would be encountered in most typical surveillance situations.
Based on example (1)
above around 12 Million Images ~ 800 hours (200 hours, 4 Channels) of storage is
possible with a single 80 GB HDD that costs around $135 (@ 12/07/03.
For comparison a Time
Lapse VCR in 24 hour mode with 3 hour tape stores only 540 000 images ~ 27
hours.
PC DVR: (80 000 MB / 100
MB = 800 hours) - (~ 4.5 images-per-second per-channel x 3 600 seconds = 12 960
000 images).
VHS VCR: (5.5 fields per second) x (3 600 seconds) x (27.2 hours) = 540 000
fields.
Storage could be extended
to WEEKS or MONTHS with Larger &/or multiple Hard Disk Drives &/or Lower
Resolution &/or greater Image Compression, &/or Slow Compression &/or Motion
Detection recording.
There is no direct
relationship between the number of images and storage requirements due to the
numerous variables involved, this data from our test platform is presented as a
guide only, actual results in each situation may vary considerably.
